Due to a variety of technological difficulties - ranging from the hard drive crashing on my computer to my phone needing to be replaced - Emma Kate Plus Two went through a prolonged period of not being updated. Let's see if we can't replace that.

So a few photos ...

A free car for her, thanks to the generosity of our neighbors. True to form, she prefers to play with it ... in the cul-de-sac ... in front of their house.

Our regular camera was, well, altered thanks to Emma Kate's curiousity. So we're relying on my phone until we can get a new one.

Emma Kate's got a new cousin, well, second cousin, as my cousin Jenny had her first baby earlier this month. And she's got her own blog up and running - one that also gleefully pirates the name of a popular family-based reality show - so we can compare what are arguably the two cutest baby girls in the world.

OK, I've been sorely negligent in updating this blog. And now that I'm receiving inquisitive comments from various family members and friends - including The Wife, who lamented that she checks this blog daily ... despite that fact that, you know, Emma Kate actually lives here withus - I've got a couple of updates for everyone.

A busy Friday

A big day as we kick off Daddy's birthday weekend extravaganza ...

Despite having this stroller sit in the corner of our den for literally five months, Emma Kate finally realized she could actually play with it.

Let's just say that when she hit the hardwood floor, the speed of this activity increased dramatically.

You don't realize how difficult it is to get a still picture of an 18-month-old.

No point to this photo except to underline her need for a belt.

Emma Kate typically avoids the usual coin slot when depositing her oversized, colored coins.

Stuck in your head

When most folks ask me if Emma Kate watches something like The Wiggles or Sesame Street, I say 'yeah, but her main show is one you've probably never heard of.' And my assertion is typically right because, well, few folks have heard of a random Australian-based kids show called Hi-5 ... and that's probably a good thing.

It all started when she was still getting a bottle of milk in the morning, and I was searching for something kid-friendly to watch on TV as "Golf Central" just didn't hold her attention. The Discovery Channel used to - used to - show a collection of obscure Canadian and Australian shows in the morning, and that's how we uncovered Hi-5. Well, in its divine wisdom, the powers-that-be at The Discovery Channel opted to replace all of their children's programming with more house-flipping shows at 6:30 a.m.

Thinking we had lost Hi-5 forever, Julie and I stumbled upon the wonders of Charter OnDemand. So now, every afternoon, I'm subjected to roughly two straight hours of kiddie pop music that absolutely transfixes my daughter ...

What you can't see is the banana mashed to her chin.

In marginally related news, one of the girls is now an aspiring country singer, while Julie and I have always believed our friend Scott would have a thing for Kimee.

So ... we're here.

In moving my old blog to its current location, I unintentionally limited the content I could share. Not by any actual instruction, mind you, but rather by relevance (i.e. if I'm working to build the readership of a progressive political blog for Georgia, then posting pictures of my daughter - no matter how cute she is - doesn't really factor into the overall mission of said site). Also, knowing that we have a multitude of family and friends who are interested in seeing new pictures and sharing in new stories of Emma Kate, it made sense to have a regularly updated central location for that content (and spare my Republican friends and relatives from having to read my Democratic writings).

As a result, I hope you'll welcome 'Emma Kate Plus Two' into the blogosphere. Granted the name is derived from a once-charming show that has absolutely jumped the shark, but there you go.
